Pet therapy in Pittsburgh and Washington, PA

Direct Patients Volunteering

Patient & Family Support

Friendly visitors provide socialization & companionship – perhaps by reading aloud, playing cards, praying, singing songs, or sharing reminiscences.

Pet Companionship/Pet Therapy

Furry friends spend time with patients and their loved ones. Pets do not need to be Pet Therapy Certified but need to have updated vaccinations and appropriate demeanor for pet companion visits.

Music Therapy

Musicians to play/sing bedside.

Bedside Vigil

Sitting bedside at the very end of life, to ensure no one dies alone.

Caregiver Relief Sitters

Spend time with a patient in their home to give the caregiver a “break” to get out for their weekly grocery shopping trip, get lunch with a friend, attend a medical appointment, or any other reason, typically 2-4 hours at a time.

Life Stories

Help a patient recording their Life Story via a voice recorder, video recording, or putting their stories together in a scrapbook with pictures are some of the ways to give a voice to a patient’s Life Story. These Life Stories will live on forever.

We Honor Veterans

We Honor Veterans is a national hospice provider awareness campaign conducted by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), inviting volunteers to join a pioneering program focused on respectful inquiry, compassionate listening, and grateful acknowledgment of veterans in hospice.
