Hospice Services

Our interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, Chaplains, social workers, aides, and other professionals is trained to provide the highest quality care for patients and their families. Our services include:

Expert pain and symptom management

Deliver physical, emotional, and spiritual support to our patients and families

^

Providing necessary medications and medical equipment related to the hospice diagnosis

^

Coordinating the patient’s care with family caregivers and physicians

^

When needed, offers appropriate levels of care to meet caregiver and patient needs including respite stays, continuous care, and short-term in-patient care

Bereavement support and counseling

Bereavement

An important component of our services is providing grief support and counseling for the family. We perform grief support for families for a minimum of 13 months after the death of their loved one. We offer a variety of options for bereavement counseling, depending on which is most convenient and beneficial for the family. Options include phone calls, personal visits, written resources about the grieving process, and support groups. Bereavement coordinators can refer family members to individual counseling. If you are grieving and need support, we are available to support any community member to navigate the many emotions surrounding the loss of a loved one, regardless if they were on our service or not.

Community Education

Gateway Hospice staff provide education to places of worship, senior high-rise buildings, libraries, assisted-living homes, universities/colleges, and nursing programs – at no cost. We aim to be the region’s pioneer in palliative and hospice care education and awareness.
